Terms of service.

We've tried to write this in human language. If anything is unclear, email us — we'll explain it and fix the wording.

What Backline is

Backline is a platform that connects artists with their fans through private WhatsApp communities. Artists pay us a subscription fee to use our tools; fans pay artists directly for access to their private lines.

We are not a record label, management company, or talent agency. We provide technology and infrastructure. The artist-fan relationship is between those two parties.

Fan memberships

When you subscribe to an artist's private line, you're entering a direct relationship with that artist. Backline handles the payment processing and WhatsApp list management, but the content, frequency, and tone of messages are entirely up to the artist.

We do not guarantee message frequency, response rates, or specific content. Some artists message daily; some message monthly. That's the nature of a direct line.

You can cancel anytime from your account dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. No prorated refunds, no hard feelings.

Acceptable use

Don't use Backline to harass artists or other fans. Don't share presale codes, private messages, or exclusive content publicly. Don't attempt to scrape phone numbers or reverse-engineer our systems.

Artists: don't use Backline to send illegal content, spam, or messages that violate WhatsApp's terms of service. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that do.

Intellectual property

Everything an artist sends through Backline belongs to them. You don't get redistribution rights just because you're on the list. If an artist sends an unreleased demo, that doesn't mean you can post it on TikTok.

The Backline brand, platform, and technology are owned by Please and Thank You, Inc. Don't pretend to be us.

Limitation of liability

Backline is provided as-is. We do our best to keep things running smoothly, but we can't guarantee 100% uptime or that WhatsApp will never have issues. Our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the last 30 days.

We're not responsible for what artists say or don't say. If an artist ghosts their list for three months, that's between you and them. We'll help facilitate, but we can't force creativity.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. If we make material changes, we'll email you at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.
